A2P CDT students attend UoN Winter Showcase

On the 7th and 8th of February, twelve Atoms-2-Products Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) students and Prof. Pat Guiry attended the EPSRC and Science Foundation Ireland CDT in Sustainable Chemistry Winter Showcase at the University of Nottingham.

The Atoms-2-Products CDT is a four-year PhD programme in Sustainable Chemistry providing advanced training and education, enabling CDT graduates to work in academia, industry and related sectors. As this programme was started in September 2019, just before the pandemic, this Winter Showcase was the first opportunity for many students to present their work in person and network with their peers at our partner organisations.

During the showcase, there were presentations by the 4th year University of Nottingham CDT students as well as keynote presentations from Prof. Xiang Lan (Tsinghua University), Dr. Anna Slater (University of Liverpool) and the CDT Programme Director in Ireland, Prof. Pat Guiry (BiOrbic/UCD).

Students from both universities gave poster presentations with our BiOrbic student Ciara Lynch (BiOrbic/UCD) winning 2nd prize in the poster presentations alongside winner Alex Edmunds (UoN) and co-runner-up Elliot Smith (UoN).

A joint dinner on the Monday evening offered another opportunity to foster collaborations between the students and universities. It was a really successful event and congratulations to Ciara Lynch again!
