Porous 2D nano-photoreactive materials for carbon dioxide capture and photochemical conversion

For sustainable large-scale utilization of CO2, the commodity products of CO2 conversion processes should be economically viable and in high demand. However, there are a number of problems and limitations in existing approaches in the capture and conversion of CO2 into useful chemical products. This proposal aims to develop new layered double hydroxide (LDH) based systems for the capture and conversion of CO2 into useful chemicals such as formates and methanol.PI: Prof. Yurii Gunko, Staff: Dr. Áine Coogan (Post-doc)
