EDUCATION AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

EPE Basics

The following video is an introduction to EPE or ‘Education and Public Engagement ‘. EPE is increasingly seen as part of a researcher’s responsibility and is mandated by many funding bodies. However EPE also has a number of benefits, to the researcher, to their institution and to society. Watch this x min video to find out more.

SFI Requirements for EPE

SFI requires all funded researchers to participate in ‘EPE’ or Education and Public Engagement activities. Each centre member funded under SFI must complete at least two activities per year (Jan-Dec). The type of activity must be approved by SFI. You can find the list of approved activities here.

SFI requires us to report not only that an activity happened but:
-When it happened
-What audience group was targeted
-How many people were reached
-Which Irish counties the audience were from or if it was national

This is information you will need to have when submitting an activity to SFI.

EPE activities are first entered into your EPE Tracker – an excel sheet unique to you, stored in the Google Drive. If you cannot find your EPE Tracker please contact the EPE Manager (see contact). The EPE Manager will submit any of the activities on your tracker to SFI. Please get in touch when you have an activity to submit.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please check the FAQ below. If your question is not listed, email the EPE Manager.
