Mauricio Troncoso is from Madrid, Spain, but lived most of his life in Munich, Germany. He holds a BSc. in Biochemistry, obtained 2017 at the Technical University of Munich, and a MSc. in Microbiology, which he completed in 2019 at the University of Copenhagen. He joined the group of Professor Kevin O´Connor in September 2021 as a Ph.D. student. He will investigate novel ways to revalorise lignin waste into value-added products utilising bacterial cultures as biocatalysts.

Outside of research, he likes to hang out with friends and pursue his interests such as history and sports.
