Back for the Future Tour 2022

The Back for the Future Escape Room Tour returned for 2022 and this time it was fully in-person!

A team of two actors and two technicians took our climate change-themed escape room on the road for SFI Science Week. This year we hit Navan, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, Shannon, Blessington and Dundalk, taking the escape room to five libraries and one community college. Over 250 students, adults and families took part with almost everyone beating the room and saving the planet from climate disaster!

After the games, players had the opportunity to meet BiOrbic staff and hear about some of their research that’s helping develop Ireland’s bioeconomy. The puzzles and talks focused on the areas of waste management, carbon neutral farming and biodiversity. We got some great feedback from the players that the room was enjoyable and they loved interacting with our actors and artificial intelligence ‘SKIVVY-bot’.
