In 2021, the BiOrbic funding team joined forces with two other SFI Research Centres, I-Form and iCRAG, to develop a research funding training programme entitled, ‘Guide to Research Funding: From a SFI Centre Perspective’. This programme is a joint collaborative undertaking between BiOrbic, I-Form and iCRAG.
All three centres have come together to develop a collaborative programme of training events for their researchers. Training has and will continue to be provided by the Centres’ funding managers along with external speakers and successful awardees. Seven events have taken place since the establishment of this programme in November 2021.
They are as follows;
Getting Ready for ERC: Máire Coyle (UCD Research Office), by Dr. Maria McNamara (iCRAG)
Research Impact in proposals: Liam Cleere (UCD Research and Innovation), Aine Moore (UCD EU Research Office), Dr Maeve Boland (iCRAG), Dr Mark Coughlan, (iCRAG)
Funding Opportunities for Mid-Career Researchers: Dr Philip Cardiff (I-Form), Dr Mert Celikin (I-Form), Dr Ciaran McNally (iCRAG)

This successful collaborative training programme is having a very positive contribution in terms of engagement and funding applications in all three Centres. Furthermore, this continuous training and engagement has provided a platform for both the funding teams and researchers to collaborate and share important knowledge across SFI research funding Centres.
