BiOrbic was represented at the recent EARMA (European Association of Research Managers and Administrators) conference which was held in Prague from April 24 – 26th, 2023.
The conference explored key areas around widening and deepening the role of the RMA (Research Management and Administration) profession.
Over 1,400 delegates were in attendance from across Europe with colleagues from Ireland placed as number 3 in terms of country representation. The conference comprised of keynote talks, workshops and a posters session where the BiOrbic research funding team (Liina Rae and Chrissie Shortt) presented a poster entitled ‘The reward for great work is often…more work” A Case Study of the Ever-Expanding Role of a Pre-Award Team’.
The poster detailed the importance of meeting our ambitious funding targets for the centre but also outlines the importance of contributing to other centre activities including reporting, EPE activities, event organisation and project management. This case study illustrates how we meet our funding goals but also ensure we contribute to the overall success of the research centre.
Knowledge sharing around all key areas of best practice from project management on post award EU grants to writing grant proposals, open science, data sharing, the role of AI now and into the future were just some of the topics that were explored.
BiOrbic would also like to send their congratulations to Dipti Pandya from the UCD Research team who was elected as the incoming chair of EARMA. We look forward to working with Dipti and our new colleagues at EARMA over the coming year.
