Kate is interested in sustainability through biotechnological advances, primarily in the areas of bioplastics and clean energy. She has a BSc in Marine science from NUIG along with an MSc in Biotechnology and Business from UCD. She aims to combine the knowledge she gained from both institutions in order to conduct her PhD titled "Molecular crowding effects on the production of bioplastics by Ralstonia eutropha." On completion of her PhD, she hopes to be a leader in the fields of enzymology, bioplastics and proteomics.
