Dr. Halim is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering (SBFE) at University College Dublin (UCD) with 10+ years of experience in microalgae biotechnology and an emerging track record in research funding and independent research. He has multidisciplinary research interests in microalgae, including fundamental biology, biorefinery processing and utilisation of biomass components for food, feed and fuel applications. His group is currently investigating the use of microalgae for bioremediation of agri-food waste products and sustainable co-generation of food, fuel and biochemicals, paying particular attention to the role that microalgae can play in creating circular bioeconomy in the Irish dairy, brewery and anaerobic digestion sectors.
